My name is Peter Jewett and I currently reside in the Burlington area. I am 25 years old, currently employed at IBM and involved with a few local businesses of my own design. I was born and raised in central Maine and tend to speak with a very noticeable Down-East accent. I am an avid soccer player and skier and moved to Vermont in my junior year of high school to attend GMVS in the valley.
I got started with internet business during my sophomore year of high school when I started a site called www.phreeryder.com. We were determined to make a million dollars, and got within $950,000 of our goal. It was enough to get me hooked and I have been involved in e-Business ever since.
After a few years of skiing, I put together my next notable website during my freshman year of college at UNH. It was called www.SecondHandSki.com and provided free classified ads for people that were buying and selling ski equipment. I took a year off to go skiing at Big Sky Montana and built up the site to the point where we were hosting almost 100 ads at once. When I got to Champlain College in 2003, I ended up ditching this project. I had learned about something called revenue and turned my free classified business into an eBay consignment service. I started selling skis for friends and taking a commission and www.GoTradingPost.com was gradually born. My partner and I have been running GTP for the last 3 years and are approaching a million dollars in sales. Our success was part of the driving force behind Champlain College developing their BYOBiz program, it will be exciting to see the program and student businesses grow and prosper.
I have designed a variety of sites in the last couple years with more on the way… feel free to browse them on the right side of this page. I graduated from Champlain with a BS in e-Business in 2006 and have been hustling ever since. Thanks for visiting my blog!
